July CTC

How's things ETT'ers. It has been a while... hope you are all OK and enjoying yourselves.

The July Cross Team Challenge is a cheeky little interval session set by the Independents.
Row 10 sets of one minute with one minute rests inbetween. Start from a static flywheel and the rest can be rolling starts.

Good luck everyone.

With only a few teams left in the World Cup how did your team fair?

  2. Yes they have had a good World Cup.
I got Nigeria in the sweep-stake at work so my chances of winning any money have gone now. Oh well.

  3. First ever CTC challenge done this month and logged after a while away from any consistent erging - almost passed out!! SO unfit! Anyway, put a marker down for something to try and beat later in the month....

    1. It will come back don't worry.
I am on the journey back to fitness too - It's amazing how quickly it disappears and seems to take an age to build back up again!

  4. Sorry to see France and Nigeria exit the competition. Routing for Columbia to win the world cup. Home of the best coffee in the world.

CTC completed in RealFeel: 35° Celsius. Brutal and painful starting after the 2nd rep. The last twenty seconds of each rep were pure hell. Happy with the results.

The 2k time trial streak stands at 19 weeks in a row. Improvement continues with 17 out of 19 trials being season bests.

Hope to reach the 8200m mark for the 30' time trial soon. Last week's effort was 8108m on tired legs. Next cool day we'll see what we can do.

Daily workouts continue however the starting time is now after work. About 5:30 to 6:00pm. Pretty hot and humid but survivable for the 30 to 40 minutes of intense rowing. Shaded area on patio, fan on high, and lots of available water are all that I require.

Keep up the effort ETT's. The erg is a tremendous workout if not a terrific character builder.

    1. Its definitley character building alright. I would say that ETT is full of characters!
Your hot and humid work-outs sound pretty brutal Bill - but as you say; very character building ; )

  5. I'm not sure whether I prefer last month's CTC or this month's sprint........or should that be not like least! With the nice weather, I have mostly been out on the bike or out on the water, so the C2 has been having an extended stay in the cupboard under the stairs, but with the rain today, I thought I would give the CTC a go. Saw Bill's excellent time attempt before I started, and was still within touching distance of it after 7 reps, but sprinting is not really working for me at the moment, and drifting away from it towards the end, finishing with 2,997. Good luck to everyone else with this one.

    1. I know what you mean - it's one extreme to another - endurance then sprinty intervals!
I think I am going to give this month's CTC a go after my knee rehabilitation. Think I should be OK (maybe for interval number one.... I'll see how it goes from there).

  6. Definitely preferred last months ctc. Just done this months. Not a fan of sprinting. Thought I was close to death at rep number 7. Since I'm typing this I must have survived....
