Holiday Challenge!

How are you getting on with the holiday challenge?
Its been a slow burner for me this year with work, house renovations and the usual festive preparations to squeeze in.
Only two more days of the holiday challenge left - Are you going to reach your 100k or 200k goal?

  1. Congratulations to those who have participated in the holiday challenge. I hope that you have managed to achieve your goals.

It sounds like you have been quite busy Caroline! I hope the house reno's are going ok, you've been working on this for a while. Should look great once you have finished everything. I am in the process of having my 'manshed' constructed. It will be 6.21m x 3.92m and it will serve as a storage area, gym and workshop (i enjoy woodwork and wood turning).

Anyway i just want to wish everyone (and your families) a fantastic Christmas and all the very best for the New Year. This Christmas is my first in about seven years that i am not on the bushfire roster which means i am free to enjoy the festive season. Therefore i'll head off to Perth (420km south of where i live) with my wife and 4yo daughter to see my parents and other family. Weather looks good at about 30 degrees celcius.

All the best everyone and i hope you have an enjoyable festive season ......... and stay safe!

    Best Regards
    Dave P:)

    1. Thanks for the festive greetings ; )
I am loving the sound of your 'manshed' you will need to send a photo of you in your 'home-gym' so we can share it with fellow ETT'ers.
Have a great time with your family.
I will be posting about a new type of stretch (core exercise) that Chris (my other half) and I have been doing to strengthen the back and improve hip flexibility (Phil!) over Christmas so you can incorporate it into your New Year fitness regime.

  2. Due to a hip injury I will not make the 100K. I would normally have done 150K by now. I should be back to my regular routine by XMas.

  4. I started late (the 5th) and bearing in mind I hadn't erged in 3 months since before my hernia op (17th Sep), I thought I'd shoot for 100k, starting slowly. With tomorrow the last day, and my total currently at 194,585, I think it's safe to say I'll make the 200k 'hardman' target instead!

I decided last week that I could make the extra 100k if I pushed myself, and it's been harder than I expected. I did 20+km today, and my back is aching a lot, to the point where I could almost cry! How I did that million in a month that time, 30+km a day, I cannot understand anymore. I'm so happy now though that I will make the 200km, after the last 18 months and my heart, GERD and hernia problems it feels like this is the point where I turn the corner.

Anyway, enough rambling. I hope you all have a great Christmas and I'll see you all back here in the New Year for the JVTC! Cheers!

  5. Merry Christmas ETT'ers, I never knew it was so long from Thanksgiving to Christmas ! The holiday challenge was indeed a hard slog, so now for some R&R. As for Christmas activity - in Bude, Cornwall we do a mass Christmas sea swim in the surf, a balmy 10 degrees this year, so now I just have to motivate the kids into their swim suits... Looking forward to the VTC
