Last day of the May ETT CTC

Wow! Well done ETT'ers we floated five boats into the points rankings (almost six) and had seven boats partially filled.

We can feel pretty happy about the fact 30 team mates rowed the 5555 metres this month which makes this challenge the best ETT participated Cross Team Challenge EVER!! Whoop, whoop!

Excellent work team.

The June challenge is a pretty hard-core interval session that has been set by Paddy Power:

'1000, 900, 800, 700, 600, 500, 400, 300, 200, 100 metre work intervals all with 1 minute rest. The first to be a standing start, the remainder as you wish. The total time for the work intervals to be recorded.

Challenge Series is nearly over!

You have until the 1st June to enter the time for 500 metres to complete the Challenge Series.

The Empty the Tanks mini league looks like this, with Rob in first place, Ric in second and myself in third place. Ric may jump up to first place if he uploads his time for the 500 metres in the next few days:

I am highlighted in grey because it is on my log-in profile - I am not trying to be a show off!

I am looking forward to next year's Challenge Series to see if I can beat some of my times - I had some shockers some months!

New team member at the top of the CTC rankings!!

Wahoooooo! Awesome stuff, our newest member Rowan has erged his way to the top of the individual rankings for this months CTC. It seems only fitting that a fellow team mate should be crowned the fastest individual in the 5555 metre event!

What a fantastic way to introduce yourself to the rest of the ETT'ers Rowan - well done and welcome to the team : )

Also a big hello goes out to Rich T and Sime T which I think are mates of Rowan's. Welcome to the team guys and we hope you will enjoy rowing with us at Empty the Tanks.

Now with only two more days to go we still need to encourage a couple of female team mates to enter the 5555 metres session onto the CTC page so we could get boats five and six into the points rankings.

I know, maybe we have to ask some of the guys to put dresses on.... Mark-weba, Ric-ky, John-lea,  these new female team mates have unusual names.......

With less than 48 hours to go we need to go for it ETT'ers!!

Who is with me?

May CTC update

Unlike the British summer time, things are hotting up in the May ETT Cross Team Challenge.

Over 16 team mates have rowed the 5555 metres so far, but we have only one boat floated in the points rankings because only one female (me) has taken part. We have three partially filled boats left on 'dry land'.

ETT'ers - you need to encourage, cajole and 'pull in' favours of any female team mates so that we can see more red boats on the CTC web-page!

Boat one floated on day two of the May ETT CTC

Nice work ETT'ers! We have already floated our first boat into the points rankings for the ETT 5555 metres.
For those newer team mates who are wondering what 'floating a boat' means here are the basic rules of the Cross Team Challenge:

During the month, team members post times or distances for that month's challenge, and these are used to compile 'boats' for each team.
A boat is made up of 5 seats. 3 open seats, a lightweight seat (male or female) and a female seat (heavy or lightweight).
At the end of the month, the qualifying boats are given a point score based upon the number of complete boats that month. If there are 20 boats, the top ranked boat gets 20 points, down to the last boat that gets 1 point.

First day of the 2014 indoor rowing season

What goals and challenges have you set yourself this year?

  • You could take part in the Global Marathon Challenge which runs from 1st - 15th May. Row a half or full marathon to get your name on the honour board. Read more details here: Global Marathon Challenge 2014
  • The final round of the C2 Challenge Series is a 500 metres sprint finish.
  • Of course there is the ETT May Cross Team Challenge to get your season off to a decent mid-distance session of 5555 metres.

One of my goals as team captain is to get SIX boats floated in this months CTC challenge; we have enough active members in the team - we just need to encourage each other to take part!!

Two team mates have already got the boat ready..... we just need to launch it in the water with three more ETT'ers.
