Happy New Year's Eve

I hope you all have a great time this evening celebrating the end of 2012 and the start of 2013. Its a time to reflect on the past 12 months and think about what you have achieved. Be positive about the year ahead and set yourself some erging goals to smash through!
If you haven't already signed up for the January Virtual Team Challenge 2013 go to the 'Team' tab on your on-line logbook and hit the 'sign-up' button.

Talking of challenges, it is the last day of the December Cross Team Challenge (10 x 1 min with 1 min rests) and we need more team mates to submit a time to float more boats in the points rankings.
Come on you festive fellows there is one more day to make an erging difference in 2012.

Holiday Challenge 2012 Results

Happy Christmas Eve Empty the Tank'ers I hope you have all been good boys and girls so Father Christmas will bring you a little something tonight.
I must apologise for my lack of posts recently I have been involved in a major full body work-out for the last four days that includes the following:

  • loading, unloading and carrying boxes
  • painting, sanding and re-decorating three rooms
  • mopping, vacuuming and general deep cleaning of two properties
So as you may have already guessed Chris and I spent the weekend before Christmas moving house! It has been a mad few days and it seems that we have got ourselves pretty much sorted just in time for Christmas Day!

Due to the craziness of the past week I have been unable to complete the Holiday Challenge this year (annoyingly only 14k short of the 100k) but the following team mates have been dedicated to the (Santa) cause:

Boat One Floated in Dec CTC 2012

We have floated the first boat of many (I hope) in the December Cross Team Challenge. Well done to Ric, Rob, Bouke, Norman and Esa who have rowed this very speedy interval session.

After a decent warm up this 10 x 1 minute session with 1 minute rests certainly gets the blood flowing. I rowed this session at the Novotel in Leeds during my early Christmas visit to see family and friends.

As you can see from the photo the C2 (PM2) is positioned in such a way that you can be seen erging from the other end of the hotel corridor! It can be a bit strange, but I didn't really care I was there so early on Saturday morning that nobody was around anyway.

Three in a boat

Three team mates have rowed the speedy December interval session of 10 x 1 minutes with 1 minute rests. We need a heavyweight and female rower to get his boat in the rankings.

Ric is riding high in the individual rankings in 10th place whilst Bouke is in 14th and Rob is in a respectable 37th place. Nice one gents.

First man in the Dec CTC boat

Bouke is the first ETT'er to enter a time for the December Cross Team Challenge of 10 x 1 minutes with 1 minute rests.

We have 29 more days to get more entries in for this challenge.

We need more girls to take part so we can float more than one boat this month - let's encourage wives, girlfriends, sisters, daughters, mates and fellow ETT'ers to get involved in this fast and furious interval session.

5k PB for the C2 Challenge Series Round 4

I managed a 5k PB today by taking 21 seconds off my previous PB. I am currently ranked number one in the lightweight rankings (although I am the only lightweight to have entered a time so its not quite justified!).

2011 5k = 23:17.5 = 2:19.7
2012 5k = 22:56.9 = 2:17.6

Let me know how you all get on with this classic row.

Friday is ladies night!

Come on ladies on Friday 30th November we need your help floating boat two in the Cross Team Challenge - its only a quick 12 minute blast on the rower!!

The December CTC is a short sharp and fast interval session of 10 x 1 minute rows with 1 minute rests chosen by the Forum Flyers.

The Challenge Series Round 4 is a straight forward 5,000 metres row.

Challenge Series Round 3

How are people getting on with the Challenge Series Round 3?

I did the 6344 metres today and managed to smash my previous time by over 2 minutes - which means that either last year I didn't put much effort in or that my training for the EIRC has helped me shave some time off!? I think it may be a combination of the two.

2011 6344m = 32:14.4 minutes
2012 6344m = 29:45.4 minutes

I am temporarily ranked in the number two slot with comparable female lightweights but in a few more days I'm sure I will slip down the rankings!

Anybody got any PB's to share with the rest of the team?
